Very windy there, for sure. I was out there on a Hobie 20 today. We did 20mph on the gusts. Those pop up reefs come up real fast!

Are you trying to get to the area between the sandbar and Kepapa island? Or the marine base side? Long sections of very shallow stuff there.

It can be challenging in the revo to cross this stuff. Most of us would uncleat the rudder but leave it down and flutter pedal across it, or paddle. Or sail across it. I think our hobie yaks have around a 5-6" draft if not overloaded.

One thing to consider is whether you want to remove the drive BEFORE you get into the thick stuff and have the mirage fins trapped under the boat. It can damage the chains - and the reef.

When you do get trapped, try to ignore the scraping sounds, and just be glad it isn't a fiberglass hull. :o

We are just checking the pop up reefs more towards the base. We spearfish off our yaks as their paopaos running along these reefs.
