I just took delivery last Friday on my T1 and it has not been in the water yet.
Looks like whatever is causing this was either from the factory or during shipping.

I also noticed that the lines were pretty tight. Any guidelines on how tight they should be?

WHAT DO YOU MEAN IT HASNT BEEN IN THE WATER YET? UNBELIEVABLE

LOL! I know, I know. I need to get plates for the new trailer and the water is still very cold in Virginia! It will be soon!

LOL! I couldn't wait to get mine in the water. Much to the dismay of my wife. It's been almost 2 weeks now since I was able to put it in. Our weather just has not cooperated recently.

Hoping that Matt has a response for what could be causing this and a possible solution.

This is likely being caused by the assembly line during line adjustment or the way they are packaged. The factory is looking at it. Contact your dealer for warranty replacement tubes if you need to.

Thanks Matt! I haven't seen any water incursion yet. I will keep an eye on it for further wear and if need be talk to my dealer.

Sorry about this. Was apparently a period of time where assembly was causing the damage while adjusting steering lines. Engineers wanted them tighter during assembly.

This is 100% cosmetic. The tube ends are actually melted to give them the radius at the end. It is possible to pull the tubes out of the hull a bit, trim off a 1/4" and re melt. Would require pulling the control line into the tube and then getting it back out. Some may be able to simply use a hot knife to re-form and close the cut.

We are looking at what the best process will be.

Hi Matt,

I've received warranty replacement tubes and the black outer collars. Has there been any progress on the repair procedure? It looks straightforward other than the technique for melting the tubes to form the radius.

Thanks,

Steve

Mine came in last week that way. Right off of the truck.

I'll ask warranty / tech to comment.

The ends of the tubes are melted to help prevent the o ring from sliding out of the tube. They can still slip through if they get worked up towards that end, but it helps. If the tube isn't melted and you want to melt it, slide the line inside an inch or two being careful not to slide the end beyond the o ring. Slide the black outer sleeve down a bit as well. Holding the tube vertically, run a flame over the top of the tube to melt the tip a little.
