We bought a used Hobie Island Adventure in 2015; which led to the purchase of a new TI in 2018. We love this boat- we use it on lLake Huron on the Michigan shoreline. Our major challenge has been the Hobie cover. The first cover started to dry rot and tear after 3 months of use. We limped into the second season with it (short summers -5 months). By the end of the second season, it was too far damaged to use. The canvas tore adjacent to each strap. It appeared as if the material was not UV resistant. We wrote to Hobie, and they sent us a replacement cover. Much to our surprise, the replacement cover also started to rip after3-4 months in the sun. We now need a new cover for this unique boat style, and don’t believe the issue with the cover has been resolved. Has anyone else observed this issue with Hobie TI covers?
