I have bought the Lowrance x50 DS with the thru the hull mounting kit (not actually through the hull you see  ) and am looking for the picture I thought I saw somewhere of the PA with this thing mounted, along with a rod holder forward of the seat. I guess I can figure it out, but thought a little help on placement would be good. Any takers on giving a "newbie" to all this a little advise?

Thank you...I appreciate the you tube video. I did mine just a little different, but am happy with the install.
Now, I just need some help reading the output of the FF. On fish id, I see lots of fish, but when I change back to normal, I don't see any fish arches...only big blobs occasionally. Have any more video learning spots for using the ds 50?
Again, thanks for the help

1. Leave "Fish Id" off. It will read every bounce back as a fish.

2. I only get arches when I'm
a. - moving quickly over decent size fish (10-20 lbs)
b. - really big fish 30+ lbs

3. The blobs you see could be bait (although it usually shows up as a cloud) or plant-life.......or air bubbles in your epoxy/silicone etc..

Good luck

I am wondering if it isn't air bubbles. I used the install kit recommended by Hobie, and felt like I had pressed it well into the marine goop. You think it possible to remove it and reinstall it?
The battery pack that come with the through the hull kit was I thought supposed to be water proof. Yesterday when the batt. level read just over 7 volts the screen went blank. Thinking it probably was the batt's, I got to the place where it was installed, and found the bag was quite wet, inside and out. I reinstalled new batt's and then put them inside a plastic sandwich bag then back i the water proof (supposedly) bag. Any comments. BTW, no great amount of water is ever in the hull. I am also considering buying a 12 volt rechargable batt. Anyone use one, and if so how did you secure it inside the hull? I am talking about a battery that is 2inches by 2inches by 6 inches.
