Has anyone thought about the possibility of designing a swivel seat for the pro angler? The reason I ask is because there have been times when I have wanted to hang my feet over the side in the water while having back support. Also, another reason is that I mounted a Scotty anchor lock to the rear of my PA for convenience reasons (I prefer to bottom fish with the current at my back because it is easier to hook fish) so I don't have to worry about casting my fishing line around an anchor line. I am told that it is not safe to have an anchor mount on the rear of a kayak because it sits lower in the water than the front, but I don't like facing the current to fish and I don't like having to maneuver around an anchor line when pulling in a big fish...Anyway, I relocated the steering from below the seat to beside the seat which is more comfortable for me and I'm trying to think of a way that I could make the seat swivel without affecting the steering mechanism. I would like the seat to be able to swivel up to180 degrees to face the rear...Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

A swivel seat is a great idea, but unfortunately without major alterations, I don't see how it can be done as currently designed.

Let me assure you that if you have a anchor trolley properly installed on your yak, you can anchor from the back of your kayak without major consequences. We frequently anchor in the mouth of the Houston Ship Channel and have experienced currents exceeding 5 knots. Seen a lot of anchor floats the size of soccer balls pulled under for extended times but no major accidents.

Hope you get some good ideas on the swivel seat.

Thanks for the info... I don't have an anchor trolley, but my anchor is rigged to be deployed directly from the stern. It works great because it is out of the way and when retrieved, it pulls up and secures itself to the rear kayak handle. When I am ready to deploy it, I just pull up on the rope to disengage the lock mechanism of the Scotty anchor lock and the forward movement of the kayak pulls the anchor away from the kayak handle as the anchor deploys. I haven't had any problems from locating my anchor at the stern yet, but I can see the possible danger if I was anchored in windy conditions with current & wind at my back, and with wave heights of more than a foot. I'm sure in that situation water would come over the stern, but I've made my PA water tight and I use common sense to be aware of conditions relating to when and where its safe to anchor...Thanks again though for the reassurance of safe anchor deployment from the stern.
