Both of my Pro Angler seat buckles broke this week. I see a stainless steel buckle on the parts list for the Pro Angler in the 2011 catalogue but I'm not sure this is the part nor how to order just this specific buckle. I continue to fish in my Pro Angler but I worry about the strain on the seat. I made due with some shock cord tied to each strap but it doesn't work very well.

Any update on the seat buckles Matt? I really need them now.

my buckles jammed and eventually broke pretty quickly.. instead of drilling out the rivets, I clipped out the broken buckles and sewed loops into the straps... I attached both sides with a 150lb caribeener on each side should i ever need to disconnect them (i shouldnt see why).

I didnt use the adjustment anyway - i set it to what was comfortable for me, and made it permanent....plus i have two extra carbineeners to cli[p stuff to.

My right side buckle broke over a week ago and Linda at Wild River Outfitters ordered me 2 replacements as I told her I will still be going fishing and the other might come undone also. Used a tywrap to hold the two ends together. Today though I went to the first Island at the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel and the bottom came out of the seat. Appears (screws) have come out and the black molded plastic holder just came undone. Made for a horrible ride back in. Sorry, I don't like the seat. Also the angle feels all wrong when ever I try to move forward to access the front hatch etc. This make 3 items to be repaired or replaced, the PA I feel is fantastic but am having too many little things going bad.

Yep my right side seat buckle broke too.

I simply tied an over hand knot in the webbing and kept right on fishing... I was a mile off shore (Lake Michigan) at the time (4 -5 foot rollers) and really had no other choice, but I'm happy with the quick fix. Seems stronger than the buckle and I love the simplicity.
Sent email and pics to Austin Canoe & Kayak and they don't seem to think this is covered under warranty, but they are still checking with Hobie.

just tell them to order you the part... i think the stainless steel replacement clip is like $1.50 ... I told my dealer (Jersey Paddler) that mine had broke and I wanted them to order the SS clip, they did it no questions asked and no charge.

When I showed the people at Wild River Outfitters the broken seat they provided very good service and replaced my seat on the spot. I am very happy with the excellent service they provide. :) Question for Matt, can I still get the Stainless Steel buckles now under warranty? 2011 PA purchased in Nov, 2010.

Yes. You broke them before, you might break the new ones, so good idea. Doesn't seem to be all that wide spread, so not everyone would need them. Plastic is still the standard.

Awesome customer service through ACK!
They not only sent me a replacement SS buckle; they sent two.
Also sent an ACK tee shirt, didn't expect that.

Replacing the buckles is easier than I thought it would be...
Just carefully cut the OEM plastic buckle out of both sides of the webbing loops (leave the loops intact) and thread the webbing loop of the lower webbing piece through the new SS buckle twice (similar to the OEM buckle as far as the way in which the webbing path winds through the SS buckle). Now the cool part, simply slip the remaining upper webbing loop onto the angle cut buckle "axle" and adjust the webbing tension to match the other side and you're done.
No need to drill out rivets or cut and tie or re-sew webbing.

Got my new buckles and installed them this morning. My thanks to Wild River Outfitters and Hobie. The new buckles are going to be much stronger, now if I can get good weather whenever I go out....:)
