My dealer was working with Hobie to find out how to bill their time for installation. Hobie estimated 2 hours; my local dealer says 4. Need to find a new dealer...lol.

Hi all...new here....just registered....I bought a Pro Angler last year....I rang up the local dealer and they hadnt heard of the steering kit, and today they tell me that it is $129.00...I get the impression...no....for now, let me just assume it is a downloading glitch...so....I saw here the figure of $88 or so...it cant be the exchange rates.....

What is the RRP in Australian Dollars...per Authorised retailers...for this VITAL piece of retro fitting on a faulty steering...I heard today of a new steering spool as an aftermarket replacement by Hobie...are they difficult to install?

Inquiring minds, would like to know.

Thanks in advance...

Rest assured that the vast majority of Hobie PA owners don't find anything wrong with the steering unit as it comes from the factory. It's not some sort of major issue. A friend of mine just bought a 2010 and once on the water asked me what all the hubbub was about. Said he didn't have any trouble at all with the standard steering unit. Nor did I. Nor does my other buddy with a pre-2011 PA.

If you do, the kit is there. Chances are, you'll not have any issues with what comes on your PA.

Ditto on that. I've found that the steering handle mechanism benifits from a little lube now and then, but aside from that no issues here. My PA is easy to control and the steering is smooth as silk. Maybe arm length is a factor for some. Personally, I've never gotten arm fatigue on 6-8hr. trips.
