The technical data from Torqeedo lists the thrust of their "Ultralight" model motor at 33lbs. They add a caveat about converting to more common methods of measurement such as used by most trolling motor manufacturers, however, and figuring the thrust per their advice you then get about 45lbs as the thrust for that motor.

If it pushes you faster, it's not because it has more power than say, a similar motor from Minn Kota or MotorGuide. It's because the propellor has more pitch.

........ and it's the propeller that produces the thrust that gives you the speed .......... bottom line ........ it's still the most technically advanced motor out there from the battery to the motor to the propeller to the controlller ......
that can be seen

My point was that moving to more powerful trolling motors on our kayaks will not automatically generate more speed for you without utilizing a prop with more pitch.

Ok, Ive ordered the Torqeedo.

Now Im experimenting with a completely different mount system.
The objective is to raise and lower the motor from the seat, motor mount should not obstruct handle but use handle mounting, motor should fold back behind handle so it cant be banged against an object and so it does not use extra length space in boat room, drill no holes, look cool, look stealth. Well that the idea, lets see.

It shouldn't be hard to remove your rear handle and replace it with a bar from which you can mount a trolling motor. You could easily include a handle or handles as part of the mount itself.

Ive now discovered the handle is NOT mounted symetrically on the Kayak.
This has messed up my bracket.
Ive measured 2 PAs now and both have the handles too far to the left by about 5mm.

Been watching this topic for a while, and I've got Toms system about half-way figured out. It is some sort of small, simple water jet attached to the rear handle. We used to use the same concept on a canoe to run upstream, using a fishpond jet pump. Here is a pic of Toms jet on the back of his PA:

If anybody has any ideas on what kind of water jet that is in the picture, let me know.

That looks like the GH 8135. Pretty decent model but there are different models that offer better propulsion.

Tom has said you can't buy this motor.I stared at that youtube video about 50 times. We are just going to have to hope for some wealthy pro angler owner to help Tom secure his intellectual property and pay for production. I don't think there is much of profit motive to produce this motor. That is why we don't have mounted on our PA's yet. I would do the same thing in Tom's position.

How about a Rim driven mini thruster??
The motor is around the outside of the propellor
