Finally got my replacement buckles.
No problem to install and I don't think these will ever break, extremely heavy duty.
And just what the PA needs... another couple of ounces of weight

I think it is just a matter of time before every plastic buckle on every PA out there
will break.
Do your self a favor and pick a couple up so you are ready when the inevitable happens to you.

I will say it again, ALL dealers who sale PA's should have these little stainless steel gems IN stock.

Maybe Hobie should give us free replacements?

Come on guys, the buckle replacements are free!
You just have to contact a local dealer or Hobie tech support.
In my case I snapped a picture of the broken buckle and traded email with Hobie Tech Support while at the boat ramp and quickly knew the replacement buckles (qty 2) were being shipped.

Yes you may have to wait for the replacement buckles, but you can simply tie an overhand knot with the webbing itself as a temporary fix.
I did this myself while on the water when one plastic buckle broke. Didn't even come off the water.
Continued to fish this way for several more days without an issue.
No need to carry extra hardware.
Try it, you'll figure it out.
No big deal.

Come on guys?

My Hobie dealer seems to have a couple hundred pegs on his display board
each one holding a cool Hobie accessory.
How big a deal would one more peg holding these replacement buckles be?

As you said
No big deal.

By the way, I did the red neck over hand knot fix, and yes it worked perfect while waiting a couple months for my buckles to come in.

Yup, both mine broke today approx two miles out! Heed the warning from others, get replacements before it happens to you as well!! We all spent the money on getting PA's, what's a few more dollars??

Hey Matt, I ordered new SS Seat Buckles from my local Hobie dealer and they charged me $9.99 each rather than $6.00?? What gives?

$9.99 is the list price.

Annual price updates were posted to dealers on 9/1. The review found that these were under priced and the adjustment was made. This item was not on the price list before this fall.

Hey guys first post here. I had one of my buckles break this past weekend too. So got the replacement buckles from a friend that had 2 sets and was back in business! It wasn't really easy to get the new straps through, it takes a little time but once you get it in there I'm sure the new buckles will outlast the PA. Here are a couple of pics.

My seat straps broke suddenly . I cut the threads from the buckle straps, installed Thule strap buckles, glued and sewed the strap back together. Used very little adhesive so it would not be stiff. You must sew it to make it reliable. Works great and is easily adjustable.

First time posting, love the forum... Broke both strap buckles yesterday, and broke the seat today! I thought the seat would hold till I got replacement buckles... totally bummed, wish I had seen the posts about the metal buckles... the seat busted at the hinge when I was pedaling up current...of course on the long weekend when the stripers are running... Glad the warranty is 2 years, I at least have a shot at some help... Brian W
