My local dealer has no interest in getting these PA parts for me. I tried Austin Kayak but outside of a couple items here that they normally stock, they have no interest in ordering the others.

Any idea where these can be obtained? Direct from Hobie, perhaps?

I just found this place recently. Can't give any feedback about them as I'm just now waiting for my first order to arrive.

I also have a problem getting Hobie accessories. Everytime I seem to order a item they tell me hobie has it back ordered. I just now received my rod leashes a month later. I asked for a price on the new evolve this morning, still waiting on a price. I have a 2011 PA and a 2011 Outback and like them both. Had I knew how much of a problem getting parts was I would probably have went with a different kayak. I purchased my kayaks on 3/18/2011 and have been waiting untill now to get everything I ordered in. I guess a new dealer is in order.

What kind of dealer won't order you parts? That's ridiculous. Hobie might want to consider some new dealers.

Austin was not interested in acquiring any parts for me that they do not normally stock.

Back to square one.

Well still no reply from dealer on the Evolve after 3 days. Hobie needs to start selling there own accessories or get dealers that will.

It is a problem - perhaps the only weak point in Hobie's operation.

We are only as strong as the weakest link.

It is unfortunate that some dealers, or possibly some employees of those dealers are not responsive. Understand these dealers are independent and Hobie is only one of many types of products they carry.

We have chosen not to sell parts direct for many reasons. It is complicated, but most companies that we have seen go that route end up alienating the dealers, lose dealers, lose customer support and new boat sales by those dealers.

eVolve V2 is priced $100 up from the original system in the US ($1,999.00).

We offer a drop-ship service ($8 fee to the dealer) to ship orders direct to you in the US. Find a dealer, place the order and get direct from the factory shipping for fastest service.

So, I'm out of luck?

This really puts me in a bind.

Matt,

What is the difference between the Evolve V1 and V2?

Thanks, Jim

Very surprised that Austin would not order for you.

Most dealers will take phone or email orders. We have a LOT of dealers. Best to use your closest dealer, but when necessary... any dealer would do.

One catch with the drop ship service. We will only ship to that dealers area... not into another dealers area.

V2 has a bit more capacity and a plug that will accept a solar cell system (not yet available)

Tom,

Don't know who your dealer is near Highpoint, but I use the folks below and so far, they have been very helpful.

Great Outdoor Provision Co.

Tom. really sorry to hear of your dealer issues.

I know they are probably not as close to you as ACK, but you might want to give Mariner Sails in Dallas a call (972-241-1498) . Ask for Aris and let him know what you need . You will not find better service anywhere and he will simply take care of you quickly and with a smile. They carry one of the best in-stock Hobie parts and accessories inventories anywhere. Odds are that they have what you need there.

Incidentally, Mariner Sails also tirelessly supports our wounded Vets Charity "Heroes On the Water" that takes wounded veterans kayak fishing .

Best of luck, Phill Pttman
