Down/side imaging transducer

Was wondering if any has installed a side/down imaging transducer on the angler pro would appreciate any feed back on this matter

i believe the humminbird HD DI works good as a shoot-through, but the SI transducer needs an unoibstructed image so it must be in the water...you are talking about the humminbird right?

I have a Humminbird 798si (side imaging) fish finder installed on my PA using Madfrog's sideboards and transducer deployment arm. When I launch I snap my mirage drive in then swing the TDA over the side near and off I go. The only issue I have had is forgetting to pull of the arm when I head towards the beach. Its very resilient but you don't want to ground it on a concrete boat ramp with the arm down.

It doesn't show the deployment arm on the site but the side boards are pre-drilled for the the arm and I really like the extra mounting space I get with the new side boards.

Could this transducer be mounted threw scupper holes

Yes it is a hummingbird my last kayak ocean trident the transducer was mounted threw the scupper would the view still be obstructed for the down/side scan

What did you figure out on this? I have the 598ci HD DI Combo. I was thinking of hanging my ducer off the back. I am going to take a thin piece of aluminum and install it under the stern rail and bolt the ducer to it. My friend has a similar setup on his Ride 135 and has no issues.

I think the DI has to be in the water based on my calls to Humminbird.

Have you tried this? I have it through hull on my Tarpon right not and it isn't working that good.

Sure, I am going to the the Ram/Hobie Anal Probe so that I do not have to drill anything. If that does not work, I am going to install a 4in Gear Trac on the Stren Rail and try that.

I am trying not to drill anything because I am hoping Humminbird will come out with a scupper mount transducer for DI like the Lowrance.

I did a through hull mount (temporary) on my pro angler last weekend. Hooked up a 597hd di combo and got very good imaging. I am going to side mount this weekend and see if there is any measurable difference.

It says there is a slot cut in the side of the probe for the transducer wire to fit thru. It looks like a nice way to route the wire but wouldn't that allow water to enter the kayak?

These guys say that it will not leak. The said put some silicon on it and that it actually rides higher out of the water than you would think. I have one headed my way. I will post a full review when I get it all hooked up after the holidays.

Cool thanks. Now if I was reading right they aren't aluminum like the first ones were? They mentioned something like them being nylon?
