Hi,

I just purchased a Pro Angler (and love it) and noticed that inside the hull under the seat, there is a "bubble" about 1" x 1/2" sticking up from the floor. My question is, would that have any effect on the strength on the hull down the road, or is that fairly normal when a boat comes out of the mold?

Thanks.

What you are seeing is the area in the hull which gets plastic accruement while in the molding process. Where the hatch is located – during the oven process there is a vent, which plastic ‘drip’s off of while the hull is being molded. Every kayak we build will have this same type of ‘irregular’ plastic bulges or thickness differences – Sometimes it builds up so think that we will actually ‘grind’ some of it way so that the gear bucket will fit into the hatch. It isn’t anything that is a worry – you could probably take a look at 20 hulls same model as yours and find the exact same type of irregularities.
