I was at Harbor Freight today looking at bungee cords when I noticed this:
http://www.harborfreight.com/motorcycle-cargo-net-67010.html
I removed 6 of the Torx screws that hold the back plastic part of the seat and screwed in 6 small screw eyes. The bungee net fit like it was made for the back of the seat. I may shorten the hooks so the net is a little tighter across the back of the seat.
SRAces, I only fish for trout so I keep all the tackle I need in the compartment in front of the seat. I also carry a small tackle box behind the seat and that has extras of what is in the before mentioned compartment along with snacks.

Is that 1/4" bungee or the 3/16"? How long?

Oh, and THANKS for posting a great idea like this.

You're welcome. I think it took 11 feet of 1/4" bungee.

I'm like you as I only take what is needed for the particular trip. You can carry the whole tackle shop if you wanted to due to the room...lol. Thanks for finding that net at Harbor Freight. That looks like a great item for behind the seat storage. I might have to get one! :D

Can you post pics of the netting installed?

Not sure if this request is for me or not but here goes:

I need to shorten the hooks or replace them to tighten up the net and I will probably add more screw eyes in the middle to support the netting better.

I have one of those Harbor Freight bungee nets and to attach, I unhooked the metal hooks and attached to the back of the seat using these and a self-tapping SS screw that I made black with a sharpie;

I screwed into the green part, so the netting runs all the way across the back and is reasonably snug. One on each of the 4 corners, then one on each side except the top. Very neat and factory look to it. I'll take photos tonight and post up...

The green inside or outside of the seat?

I'm thinking that if it was mounted to the green inside wall the right way it would look better and be more like a built-in pocket that seeing those cords wrap around the outside of the seat. I might try it that way if I get that material from Harbor freight.

Neat idea to be sure. But in the hot weather (let's say you take off the jacket by mid morning) you would lose out on the cooling action that the back of the seat provides.
My PA is on order so I'm talking out the back end right now.

Anyone notice that yet? Or is it not an issue?

I liked this idea so much I took the hooks off the net and removed the screw eyes and installed these thingabobs (what ARE they called?) instead. Ran out of stainless screws so I will have to make a run to the hardware store to finish the install.

Here is a photo of my seat back with a cargo net. It holds my jacket, waders, just about anything I want to stuff in there.

A big thanks to atabuss for the idea to use the net. Just another way the PA family helps each other out. Cheers!

What is that yellow thing in your paddle holder? I like the idea, going to make it happen.

That's my air horn;

Image

I got it from Cabela's after reading reviews. That thing is LOUD!! I tried it out on the lake, I was at least a mile from the boat ramp and in radio contact with DW when I tested it. She said she could not only hear it, but that it was loud and it echoed around for a bit after I stopped.

You can find one here;
http://www.cabelas.com/product/Boating/ ... t104548680

Meets U.S. Coast Guard requirements. It's fully waterproof, shock-resistant and stays afloat if you drop it overboard. Powered by one 9-volt battery.
