I found a new PA14 that was won in a tournament that is being sold at a great price. I haven't seen the boat yet but the owner said it hasn't even been assembled. What is involved in the assembly of one and how difficult is the process?

its most likely just putting on the rails and seat and maybe the mounting boards. everything else should already be installed. very very easy

I was at my dealer when we unwrapped mine from it's original shipping material. If I remember correctly, all I had to mount was the seat. It was packed seperately for shipping. If you found a great deal on a PA, you can't go wrong!

I had to install the rails on mine. Take your time on this step to make sure the bolts don't cross thread. It can be a little tricky.

Only thing you have to install is the side rails, and the seat!! which are both simple...

Go For it you won't regret it especially if its a good price!!

When you're putting the rails on, tighten the bolts little by little. Don't tighten one fully down with the other still not inserted. These can be easy to cross thread if not done right and a bear to fix. Cross threaded inserts either need to be retapped, or drilled through and through bolted as a last resort.

That's exactly how I obtained mine!!! It was such a great deal I felt like I stole it! When I picked it up from the guy is was still in the protective wrap. I loaded on my trailer and he gave me the box with all the parts and accessories and I headed to the house. I bolted on the rails and seat and it was ready for action!

Snatch it up especially if its a good deal! Plus you can still warranty it through Hobie!!!

Enjoy!

Redwolf,

Just curious...have you fished Philpott Lake just north of you in your PA? I used to fish that lake a lot in a regular Bas boat and was curious. I would think that would be a good kayak fishing lake.

Tight lines!
