I have noticed while stored on the wheels my pro angler has devoloped a flat spot on the bottom nose. I havent had it for long, but just moving it around and the nose sliding on the pavement has been rubbing in a flat spot. Does anyone put anything under there or has anyone designed something for protection to that spot of the kayak ?
Thank you.

your not supposed to store the kayak with the wheels on. I use a piece of carpet especially when I load my yak onto my car to protect the rear of my yak even though they have small skid plates on either side.

I never dragged it from behind. Honestly the flat spot could have been from shipping, I am not sure as its only a week old. sort of looking for a keel guard.

Take a picture and email it to the dealer where purchased...then I would follow-up with a phone call to them.

"week old"...Has the PA been in the water yet?

I put approx 2 ft of keel guard on the front of both our PA's. I rank this right up there with the seat slide as essentials for the PA!!!!

my local kayak dealer put some on for free to use my PA as a guinea pig, he was not sure it would stick or not. I think it is 1.5 or 2" wide. looks great except it would not lay flat where it went around the bottom front. My Pa is almost 3 years old and is has been used, thus the scratches. Wish I would have known about this keel guard stuff a long time ago.

we used a heat gun and it was 93 degrees the day we put it on...........it was so hot the guy that put it on could not touch it. he said the stuff was sliding around. the installer also sanded the area lightly and cleaned the area with something before installing the product. he also used a roller to try and push the product down. I may slit those parts with a razor blade and push them down.

I have the olive colored PA and I bought a roll of olive colored duct tape. Then I put on 5 or 6 layers of tape. When it wears down to the last layer or two, I pull the whole mess off and start over. This ensures I inspect regularly too!

I also use the keeleasy on both of my kayaks. It goes on easy and has proven to be very durable. Highly recommend you put something like this on, preferable before you scratch up the bottom like I have done.

Hello fellow Hobie kayakers, I know the thread has been idle for a while, but...

For years I've been trying to find a solution trying to protect all my Hobies (Outback 2013, Outback 2014 and finally now... my brand new Hobie Outback 2015

Must have spent countless hours online doing research on possible, doable and above all effective solutions to protect both stern a bow keels on my Outbacks. Result... Never found anything truly worth while, either because after some research review show products not being really effective as they would offer little to no protection OR other products out there were too expensive and required some tweaking (forget about the fact you if you make a mistake or the solution don't actually work... that would be an expensive prototype)

Now that I came up with what I feel as being PERFECT solution (and cheap I should add) figured I should share...

PLEASE DONT TAKE ME WRONG... By no means I think this is better than anyone's else solution (a perfect solution i and will always be what works for you) but... I'm really happy with it and will protect my new Outback when loading/unloading the kayak to/from my truck roof rack and launching/arriving to the boat ramp (concrete)

You will notice the after making these two pieces the 32oz jar (approx. $30) is still over 3/4 full (this was also after making a couple nose/tail protectors for my longboard skateboard) - Pigment Pack (approx. $12)

Total cost for BOTH pieces: LESS $5

(Please note: MATTE scotch tape was used to prevent morphing plastic from adhering to shape roller, kayak and everything else...)

BTW you can make this in whatever color you'd like...

J3 ........ That's the best idea I've seen in a long time. How does it attach to the YAK ....... Does the plastic stick to it or do you have to use the 3M tape. What are those white strips for
