The PA12 was introduced as introductory pricing, as we (the dealer base) figured it would jump for 2013, pretty standard for mid season releases on any product.

I'm guessing here: but the $ difference is in the seat, that is one bad boy and you gotta pay for top USA manufactured quality. We all wish the cost was lower, I mean who doesn't. These boats are big and it cost a lot to ship them, they take up more room in the warehouse and on the semi's

I purchased a 2012 PA 14 two months ago and love it. Wanted to splurge for the 12 with the vantage seating and recessed storage but didn't want to sacrifice the front hatch space. Hoped for the 2013 PA 14 to have these features with te intention of taking a small hit and upgrading. I will say after having sat in the new seat I wasn't all that impressed by it over the old one. Certainly not $400 over the old one. I understand that it costs money for R&D and new molds and such. However, when I hear "Buy American" and the idea that we have to pay more for American made products for "Quality" is just upsetting. We as a country and world leader should be producing quality products regardless and we shouldn't have to pay more because it's American made especially if we are not having to import anything. Sorry about the rant guys. Love my Hobie and wouldn't trade it for anything in the world!

I already have a fishing kayak. I was comparing the PA to the Native Mariner and settling for the PA. At around $2600, I say, WOW, but for a 2013 PA 14. I am going to save up and treat myself. At $3000, my current fishing Kayak is is looking great. I live in TN so I have no way of doing a demo.

I also was going to get the 2012 until I had heard that the 2013 Mirage Pro Anger 14
Hobie should be out in a few months so I was going to get the 2012 PA 12 but also heard that the new 14 will have the changes to it so I waited and glad that I did I just put my order in for it yesterday and should be here on the end of Sept. or early Oct. Yeah it cost a little more but I could see the extra charge with all the changes that are in the new one:
1. Vantage Seat
2. Pivoting Tackle Management System
3. Dual Steering
4. Lowrance Ready Built in Transducer Mount that is Absolutely Plug & Play
5. Pre-Installed Anchor Trolley Inserts

Congratulations GunnyJ on the order. Question though, how sure are you on the upgrades? Does the 2013 PA14 have all these 1-5 upgrades?

Saw that the new 2013 is going to cost $2900+. This should mean that people like me that have the "old" 2011 PA; should be able to sell ours for more money!! :)

FYI - I just got a quote for a PA 14 for.... drum roll.... $3399!!! So this dealer is upping the price $400 MORE than Hobie. I don't think he wants to sell one.

Anybody know what the turnaround time is on an order? 3 weeks? 6 weeks?

Hey Guys,
just to put the price of Pa's into perspective internationally....
Here in Oz the Pa's (12 and 14) have been selling for $3,500 up till now.
If we (Australia) follow with your price increases, (which will no doubt occur) we will be paying more than $4k :o
Oz $ is pretty much the same as US $
I know it costs a lot to ship them here ($1,000 ???), but I think lot's of people will probably opt for a boat/dinghy vs. a kayak when confronted with the probable "new" cost.
Will be interesting to see what happens to Hobie's market share/sales ????
BTW I love my new PA 12. Even more than my 14 :D :D
Cheers,
Rod
