Post subject: | Through Hull Transducer Reinforcement Question |
I know many consider it to be a travesty, but I am about to drill a 2 inch hole through the hull of my Pro Angler 14 for a depth finder transducer. I would like to put some type of reinforcement above and below the hole to prevent any types of tears. Does anyone have any suggestions on the type of material and the adhesive that would best serve this purpose? I am considering some type of Plexiglas and Marine 5200, but have never attempted anything like this and don't want to mess it up. All help welcomed !!! |

RockyRaab has been down this road before. Here's the link where he discusses his install. That might help you out. viewtopic.php?f=78&t=42248 |

Yup. You'll find that the hull is about ΒΌ" thick and that no reinforcement is necessary. There's just about zero force ever applied to the transducer, also. If anything, the Hummingbird transducer ADDS strength to the area. |
