Post subject:  Night-light pole

I was wondering if anyone has come up with a home made lightpole setup for their PA? It seems like some sort of flashlight that is attached to PVC ought to work? Does anyone have any description of materials and/or photos? Also, how and where did you attach it? Thanks!

Sorry ...but I don't have pics and it's raining right now.

I made an 8 ft ( I think) pole with spreader lights. It REALLY lights up the area. I used a Yakattack Mighty mount and a house flagpole mount that is adjustable and PVC piping.

Just go ahead and buy a YakAttack Visa Carbon light pole. Worth the money.

I added a base and telescopic light pole - just like the big boats have - with a simple toggle switch to turn it on and off. The pole removes easily for transport and the flag provides good visibility during the day, with the added light for early morning or evening use. Flag isn't in the picture, I had the light pole intalled before the flag arrived. While I was at it, I also put in a base for the front navigation light pole (red & green)

I used 1.5 inch diameter PVC, cut 3 12-18 inch pieces (depending on the size you want) three couplings, and a Piece of Bungee cord 12-16 inches long. Cap one end of the PVC. Put all the PVC together with the couplings w/o glue. Go to HOme Depot and buy a cheap nIght light with a clear complete cap(not half circle) complete globe). Attach that to a LED flash light with electrical tape. Make sure the end of the flash light will fit into one of the couplings. Run the bungee through the PVC so to make it like a tent pole. Attach the Flash light to the top coupling, and if you like..... Attach your pirate flag!

Then I bought tha Yak attack Visi pole( which is what I copied ) the entire light pole stores easily into the flag!

I like the VisiCarbon ... but the price ...

So I already had an ACR light from West Marine ($11.99 but they go on sale often)

I used some left over tent poles, a little mylar tape
    Image

And a piece of old pool noodle
    Image

It can mount in the existing rod holder, or in an extended rod holder

and stores in the rod holder tubes

I have two PA 14s. I bought another ACR light ... so $25 vs $160 ... your choice.

(I'm going to add some reflective tape for a finishing touch)
