SkiPro3,

My FF is the Lowrance Elite 5 DSI. This unit has the colored screen, built in GPS with chart plotter, over 3,000 pre programed lakes, speed, and water temp. The mounting arm is the "rugged use" RAM mount (part # RAM-101-L011). It and the RAM transducer mount are secured on 1 1/2" and 1" Screwballs from Yakattack. These are fastened to Yakattack 16" Geartrac which is attached to the Hobie handle with Yakattack's 1 1/8" handle attachment system.

People like Carl, Tom and a few others on here (TDK, SkiPro3) have done so much that has helped me. Great job Carl, this is one hell of a post! Thanks for your reply to my questions in the past on other projects! I like my raised hatch on my PA14, so wont be making this change (like others I wouldnt do it even if I wanted to as I dont have those kind of skills or patience).

Unbeliveable job with your hatch mod and your entire rig is easily one of the best on the planet!

Took the PA out over the weekend. The hatch performed flawlessly. Zero issues. I'm extremely happy with it!!! :D

Carl, AWESOME your mind sees things others miss, your craftsmanship is great. After your trolling motor project are you going to do a PA 14 island? You might need it on the gulf.

Consider me inspired! What an incredible job with the hatch installation. I ordered my new hatch from AKC last week and am laying out ideas on how to chop up my deck. If I can stop my palms from sweating, I might be attempting surgery some time next week. I do have a query however involving approaches and wanted some opinions. Looking at the structure of the opening, I am thinking instead of cutting the elevated hatch extrusion out completely, slicing it and folding the pieces flat (forming the flat deck) then welding the longitudinal seams to create the flat deck. For the rear of the hatch, I would do the same thing, but wind up doing like a Z bend to get the transverse lip and then the flush deck for the hatch attachment.

The other question is would the gear bucket designed for the hatch fit in the new opening or would the scuppers get in the way?

Just digging for more information before I buy a bottle of Jack and get to cutting on my boat...

The reason you cant see any of the pictures is because this awesome site uses the most prehistoric , outdated method possible of posting pictures. You must upload them through an image host thus the outcome is always the same...lots of valuable information that people go through the trouble of putting up.. lost !... Over half the pictures ive posted in this forum have vanished like the ones in this thread . Of course you will hear a million excuses for this outside what the problem actually is...prehistoric software....
