I am looking at the Hobie Anchor Trolley at Austin Kayak:
http://www.austinkayak.com/products/894 ... ngler.html

If you click the "Resources" tab and open the install instructions PDF, it says there are threaded brass inserts both fore and aft on my kayak on both sides.

I don't have these threaded brass inserts anywhere on my kayak. Am I interpreting the instructions wrong?

OneLung, I believe they are an addition to the 2013 models.

OK, that makes sense. Can anyone recommend a good anchor trolley for my 2012 PA?

the hobie one--either for the pre-2013 models or even the new one, is about as good as it gets. the new one comes with both hardware for the inserts or bolt-thu, in the case of your boat. just use which hardware you need.

support your local dealer. :)

cheers.

If you go to you tube there is an instructional video for the anchor trolley installation. It's easy to follow.

There are 3 kits. One universal, one for the PA 12 and another for 2013 PA 14.

72020064 HOBIE ANCHOR TROLLEY KIT PA 14 (2013)

The PA 12 and (2013) PA 14 kits use molded-in inserts for the turning blocks... and have specific length lines that are pre-assembled.

Thanks Matt,

I got with the techs at Austin Kayak and we figured out using my serial number that my 2012 PA (14ft) was made just before Hobie started installing the threaded brass inserts.

I will need to drill holes and use special Well Nuts to compensate for not having the pre-installed inserts.

http://www.austinkayak.com/products/1096/Well-Nut.html

I think I can handle measuring and drilling a few holes for the well nuts. ;)
