These guys are not car salesmen working on a monthly quota.

Average Hobie Mirage sales price is about $1,800. Even if there was a 50% profit margin for the retailer, the salesman only gets a 2-15% take on the profit (minus hourly wages). Bottom line, if these guys wanted to be heartless salesmen and focus on their wallet share, they would not have chosen kayak sales It is more likely that they are enthusiasts of the sport and want to share the passion.

Bottom line: get the kayak and accept the rust proofing, extended warranty, and hazzardlless road side assitaance

My dealer tossed in lots of freebies. He said I had $150 worth of 'credit' and could pick anything Hobie makes. I chose the scupper cart. He also told me I could have 10% off anything Hobie makes if I bought it with the kayak. I got a few things like the anchor trolley. If your dealer says the saddles, or anything else for that matter, is necessary, tell him you agree and if he doesn't include them in the deal, you will walk. After all, he CONVINCED you you need them. You need to convince him you won't buy unless he tosses them in.
