Post subject:  Lowrance ready mount side imaging compatibility?

So I finally pulled the trigger on a sounder and decided I wanted to go with side imaging(Hbird 598ci). I am wondering if anyone has used the lowrance ready mount for this and had issues. I heard a rumor that it doesnt work, but cannot get this confirmed. If it does cause issues, I am guessing a swing arm over the side is pretty much the only other option, or will a through the hull install work up front?

If I do a swing arm over the side, how do you ensure its correctly lined up so that your transducer doesnt skew your results and tell you a bush is at 30 degree azimuth from you, when in reality its at 35 degrees.

In addition, what is the best, and most cost effective route for power options. I will state this, I want to install lights for night fishing soon, so its going to need to be able to handle a draw on the power.

Thanks in advance from all you more experienced guys out there

It does "sort " of work.

You dont get the full "side" image as the kayak hull impeedes some of the side image angle.

There is a few pics on here somewhere that has the H'Bird transducer protruding the plate. That would definetly work.

Hope this helps

cool setup, but there is no way that would work for the majority of where I am is way to sloppy/snaggy

I did see in your thread that someone did this...

how sturdy are these transducers? will they take a rub from a submerged stickup/rock without shattering? IF they can take a slight beating, I think I might attempt this.

That is what I was talking about Laz

It will be fine, remember that your find even when folded up will protrude more than that.

Will more than likely do that mod on my kayak

my question is, can it handle beaching at boat ramps/shorelines. I have never even had my hands on a transducer, so i have no idea how sturdy they are

not saying I will drag it down a gravel road. Just wanna be able to have confidence I wont destroy the transducer when dragging it out of the water to put the cart in(hobie scupper cart)
