I found a 10' pole at Grainger for $35.00. I canceled that order and got the 10' on the way. I will definitely post up finished product.

Maybe you already investigated this, but..

No personal experience with the Grainger product, but have read on other forums that their rods are raw fiberglass - i.e. no resin finish. Hard on the hands unless you finish it youself!

Check out http://www.mgs4u.com/shallow-water-boat-anchors.htm. They sell rods plus stainless tips & plastic handles. Shipping for the rods is a pain though...
