Post subject:  Mirage Drive issues

After fishing today, I went to remove the mirage drive. However, It would not come out. It appeared to be hung up under neath the hull. After inspecting, It appeared the main 1/2" shaft or axle had worked its way to one side and was hanging out by inch, which was hanging on the bottom of the hull. After tapping on it, It moved back into place. My questing is, this set up does not seem too reliable if this continues on a regular bases . Any of you ever experience this issue? Or is it jush as simple as tightening a set screw, pin, clip, etc.. Btw.. I do have a call into ACK . Keep in mind this has on seen only 3-4 outings. I hope Hobie has a solution.

It sounds like the stainless steel sprocket shaft came loose.....there is a Allen head set screw that holds the shaft in place....I use a dab of blue loctite on the threads and it will not come loose....check to see if the shaft has a "flat spot" that the allen head should contact.

Dr.SteelheadCatcher, Thanks for the information. I will take a look and see if I can locate the screw your talking about.

Dr.SteelheadCatcher you nailed it. No screw present. Either it came out or came from the factory without. Guess I will have my first warranty claim. Good thing I keep my paddle handy and wasn't to far from the boat ramp. This site is great insurance. Thanks again!
