Wash them with fresh water, spray them with a lube the doesn't attract sand. About once a month check the tension on your drive chains. That's about all you need to do. Every once and a while inspect all the moving parts for wear.

Ditto the above reply, with one added thing. There is a tiny allen head screw that holds the main SS rod in place. I am referring to the rod that holds the "flippers" on. If it gets looses, the rod can slide out while on the water. Since it is below the locks, it can drop off into the water and be lost. It almost happened to me. One "flipper" was hanging loose but was still attached to it's chain with the rod completely clear of it. Now, an allen wrench is standard equipment in my tool kit.

Got my PA a few weeks ago and fish in salt water. What lube do you recommend?

Ditto on the WD-40. I rinse the sand and grit off the chains and sprockets after every outing, then spray them with WD-40.

I give it a good spraying with the hose, and a little wd-40 anywhere I see bare metal. I wipe off the excess.

The only downside I have found with WD-40 is that it will leave a 'ring' in your Mirage-Drive well, but if you use some Dawn or other grease-cutting cleaner, it will come right off.

But I must say - after over a year of more than normal use, the drive is still functioning well and no noticeable rust.

I second the allen wrench suggestion! :D

Locally here on Cape Cod, the rumor is that Wd-40 actually attracts fish so we don't worry about wiping it off. Dunno if it's true, but that's what the ol' timers say. Anybody else hear that?

WD-40 will "mask human scent" on tackle, lures, bait, etc......so fish like salmon, steelhead or trout that have good "noses", will avoid human scented items.
