Is anyone running with a Garmin 740S? I just picked up my PA 12 and I was going to move the Garmin from the boat I am selling to the PA. I know it's probably overkill but it's a nice unit. Thanks.

I was going to install a echo 150 and was told by the people where I got my PA14 the Lowrance ready system will need modification to it if it can be done at all so I returned it and got x4 pro

I recently upgraded my Garmin 300 Echos to 301dv Echos. Won't use anything else. These are just too good, and allow you to switch back and forth between standard view and DV view. Everything about them is brighter, clearer, more sensitive than my Lowrance and Eagle units.

How did you mount the transducer?

I had planned to do an outside the hull mount, as these things aren't supposed to read well if you shoot thru hull. However, I mounted it inside and tested it and it works exceptionally well. The tech at Garmin said that it may be that a thin plastic kayak hull isn't the impediment that a thicker, cored glass hull would be. For now, I'm sticking with the shoot thru hull.
