Call your dealer where you bought the boat. They can get another one from Hobie, then send it on to you. This registration stuff is a PITA, eh? |

no kiddin... who woulda thunk... you need to register it if you slap on a motor... a battery powered motor... and this puzzles me... you need boat license if you operate it in non-tidal waters... why you need license for non-tidal and don't need one for tidal waters? |

We have the same thing in KY. put a trolling motor on a bath tub and you have to register the thing. It's a gov'ment thing. On the same order as trying to understand the Divine Trinity. Also a revenue stream. Just not for us... |

Yep, call your dealer for a MSO. Hobie refers to it as a "Manufacturer's Statement of Origin." I just went through this. It can take a bit of time depending on where the boat was made. My HIN# is prefixed with "CN" which means made in China . Dealer said the boats made in Asia take longer to get the MSO. Called on July 24 & finally got it on August 18. Not the dealer's fault, but still a long time. If you have a USA made boat (I think the PA is) then hopefully process is much quicker. Moral is ask for it yesterday if you need it soon. BTW: There is a little FAQ on this in the forum. Good luck! |

The inflatables are. Mine's an i12s. Not sure which, if any, rotomold boats are. If you look at the Hobie Serial Number FAQ http://www.hobiecat.com/articles/boat-serial-number-location,15/ it says a "CN-" prefix is made in China. Maybe this applies more to sailboats than kayaks since faq is for both. |
