Mirage Drive Idler cable snapped in half--FYI & warranty question:

Bought the PA14 new in April 2012. I have probably been out in the Intracoastal waterway a 100 times. Last week, while trolling for Speckled Trout, I notice a broken cable poking out of the drive. It was the idler cable which broke cleanly at top-dead-center right through the black plastic cable sleeve.

FYI---did not affect the pedal action & I got back to my launch with no problem.

Got a new cable from Hobie overnight express as dealer doesn't stock this part...maybe about $20 for the cable & $50 for the overnight FedEx. Hobie did great in that regard & I only lost one day fishin'.

No big deal, but I wonder if I can claim warranty?

Boat and drive are covered for 2 years, so worth asking your dealer to file a claim.

FYI...Hobie came thru with the warranty replacement of the idler cable.
Thank you Mr. Miller!
