Post subject:  2012 steering shaft schematic?

I have a new 2012 hull I just received from Hobie via my dealer. The steering is different than on my other boat it is replacing.

I need a schematic on how the steering shaft and steering handle are configured. Does the upper roll pin that holds the steering shaft in place have a bearing surface under it such as a stainless steel washer? The hull was a replacement hull and didn't come with any documentation.

I called the dealer (nice folks) and they suggested that I look on the website but it isn't there. I could call them back and they will call Hobie but it is likely quicker to find out here.

Thanks for the help.

PA12 Assembly manual shows steering handle assembly on page 6. No washer.

Thanks Matt, but I am looking for info on a 2012 PA14 which has the second generation steering. The attached is for the third generation steering.

I'm told that at one time we used a rubber washer between the roll pin and hull to add friction, have gone without it now.

Okay Matt, thanks.

Via trial and error, I have discovered that if you put anything between the roll pin and the embedded brass fitting/sleeve it raises the tree up on the lower end of the steering shaft where the lines connect and binds the rotation.

So bottom-line, simply let the roll pin ride the brass sleeve and possibly the hull. Mine is working smoothly now.
