The weather was fantastic. It was nice and cool outside all morning long, with a light breeze, but not too windy. The early morning trout bite was on. Redfish were scattered all over with small groups cruising the flats. Found a Redfish feeding next to a small island. Caught me by surprise as my lure got hit on the first cast and started running straight towards the boat. 27 Inch Red on a beautiful day.......can't wait to get back out there and do it again.

With the change in temperature fishing will improve in many areas. I will be getting back out there soon. Seen reports of some very large trout being caught at the north end of the Mosquito Lagoon.

Nice Post Angler!

Did you catch it on a top water? How deep is the water where you were fishing?

Reds are heating up here on the gulf coast of Alabama as well. I went 3 days last week and caught more than a dozen on live shrimp in about 10 feet of water in Mobile Bay. Good fishing should accelerate now with the water temperature getting closer to the sixties.

Alphonse, this one caught me by surprise. I was expecting a good size trout in the area where I was casting. It hit my lure and immediately started running towards the boat, leaving a huge wake behind it. I knew it wasn't a trout at that point. I had already switched to soft plastics. Was using a Bass Assassin silver with chartreuse tail in around 12 to 14 inches of water.
