Not sure if I'll actually use this or not since i usually just have my tacklebox and a small cooler back there, but it was something to do..

I ran across these in lowes today, and thought they would make great storage boxes for the the yaks.. They are very sturdy because they are made to stand on (push poling?), and they have legs that raise them a couple inches off the floor, they have a tray in the top and room for waterproof plano boxes, and they also could accommodate probably two rod holders on each side.... Plus they are only $28 bux instead of $130.

I think i would buy some plastic paint and make it black top to bottom...

I grabbed a yellow paint to try that matched the PA according to the cap, but once painted and dry, it is a shade or two off. So i may still go with the original idea of black.
Maybe once the rod holders and stuff were on it, it would be close enough but who knows

I pulled the front latch off and plan to put a shock cord clasp on it, looking at the hinge, it's just a thin rod of what looks to be galvanized metal. Even if it does eventually rust, it would take all of 2 minutes to replace. if your rinsing your equipment like i do, i really don't think you'll ever have a problem with it anyway.

Still needs:
Two rod holders on each side
Hawg trough across the front
Hobie Sticker on the Back

That's a neat idea! I like it and might have to break down and try one. Thanks for sharing as I'm sure a lot of other PA owners will like it as well. Nice looking Pro Angler! :D

Thanks for documenting the find, mod, and install. Very interesting.

Kudos on a unique DIY project for the Pro Angler. Image

After my experience with the YakAttack BlackPak, I had no problem spending $125 for a second one for my son's Revo 11. Built rock solid for saltwater enviroments with infinite mounting options for rod holders, camera mounts, flag & marker lights.

Overboard,
What kind of plastic is that box made of and what kind of paint did you use?

I couldn't tell you what type of plastic it is... it may have been on the tag but I tossed it. I used valspar plastic primer and paint from lowes.. Supposedly using their primer allows you to use any top-coating paint you want. You could also do whatever you wanted for storage on this box. I'm not saying it's nicer than the blackpak for sure. I'm saying its nicer than a milk crate and cheaper than a blackpak.

Like I said before, I picked it up to play with, and i don't even know that I'll use it for anything... I like keeping my tacklebox in the back and really don't know why i would need any more storage..

Thanks. Looking for insights on painting plastic. The back of my PAs are taken up with cooler and live bait storage.

Shucks
wanted one for my truck! My elderly mother has a really hard time getting up into my truck. I've carried some wooden steps for her in the past. One of these may be far more useful.
