Post subject:  Newbie....Thru-Hull Plugs
I have a Pro Angler 14 a 2013. Just purchased .....not been in the water yet.

I am running my depth finder wires form the lowrance transducer holder, up through and want to use the Thru Hull Plugs. One behind seat and the one on the right side.

It looks like you have to unscrew those from within. Is that correct? Any tricks on reaching the backs of those in order to unscrew the nut? Or is it just a reach thing?

Review the owner's manual it clearly explains and shows in illustrations the proper rigging of the system Yes you need to reach up inside.

The challenge is having long arms to reach the back rings that thread onto the plugs to remove them and to re-install them. Make sure you take note of putting the cable through the ring, plug etc. all in the right order when you go to run all the cabling...lol. You could end up having re-run it if you don't have everything on your cables and the correct sides of the opening.

The plugs you use for the wires come in various gage sizes and for one or more wires. It's not that difficult to do...just the reach that can be a challenge for some.

What? They didn't give you the short arm test prior to selling you the PA? I would take the PA to the dealer and ask for my money back :mrgreen:

I had to re-run mine 3 times and I have the bruises to prove it.
I found the having your body perpendicular to the PA gave me the best reach.

I have a PA-14 and found the easiest way to reach the "side thru hull fittings" was to remove the front hatch liner and reach back to unscrew the plastic nut.
I mounted my battery in the aft hatch using the Hobie battery and holder....the easiest method I found to get the wires forward was to "fish the wires" by using my 1" x 25' tape measure......just tape the wires to the end of the tape measure and feed it forward to the front hatch to make power splices, etc making sure to first slip the wires through the plastic nut.....follow the assembly info to make water tight.
