Post subject: | High Pitched Sound |
I just purchased a used 2010 PA 14. I love it!! The last couple of times I have been out, I have noticed a high pitched squeal/moaning sound coming from the mirage drive. It comes at the end of my full length stroke and only on one side. I cannot replicate the sound when the mirage drive is out of the water. It only makes the noise when I am in the water. I have followed the maintenance steps that I read on this site (which were very helpful...thank you roadrunner) but it did not fix this issue. Any help would be appreciated. Mark |

Do you know a good Exorcist Are yousure that's not my wife in there Seriously, I've not come across that problem. Sounds like maybe something rubbing. Rubber on plastic ? Ahhhhh, it could also be your actual foot pedal rubbing on the spindle and/or the rubber strap. Give the whole lot a blast with WD40 next time you go out Cheers, Rod |

Like Rodrocket said, it could be the pedal and spindle contact points. I had that issue on a couple of MDs. A, quick, on the water fix is to wet the pedal. The long term solution that has worked for me is spraying a little Breakfree CLP at the pedal/spindle joint and working it in as best as possible by twisting the pedal back and forth on the spindle. |

I'll give a bump for the Break Free CLP spray. You can find it at Walmart in the gun section. I use it on my Mirage drives as a normal maintenance lubricant and it works great. A lot better than WD-40 or pure silicon spray. |
