I know the Pro Angler 12 was released in July 2012, but the question is in regards to whether Hobie sold them as 2013 models (like automakers start selling the next years models in the fall)or were they 2012's?

And are Hobie's serial numbers easily read to know the date of manufacture?

Reason I ask is I know someone selling a 2013 PA12 that I am considering purchasing. I know he has had it since at least January 2013, but have a feeling it was purchased back in 2012. . .when the MSRP was $350 lower than it is now. He's asking $2500 for the boat (no extras), but I'm not about to pay him the full price he paid for the boat a year ago if it was indeed purchased before the price increase!

Thanks!

We introduced the boat to dealers in the Spring. Production released in July 2012 would be 2013 models. Our model year is the same as the auto industry. We start September 1st.

Thank you, Matt.

I'll be going to take a look at the boat and see if I can't talk him down if it was indeed purchased in 2012 for the lower price!

I bought the first ivory dune shipped to South Australia. I was lead to believe that it was a 2012 model as the 2013 model saw a lower placement of the side fish finder mounting plugs under the mounting boards and the addition of two in hulls crews for the anchor trolley. My model had the front and back screws near the handles but not the two central ones. I had to use well plugs.
The 2014 model has the boa line tension on the left side.
