On my first PA12 I installed a pair of YakAttack 4" GT175 GearTracs on the mounting boards...simple install, but I found myself hitting the RAM Tube & FF/GPS whenever I was standing and poling/paddling the flats.

So, with the new Pro Angler, I decided to try something different...I went with a pair of YakAttack 12" GT90 GearTracs mounted on the gunnel, between the mounting board & side handle (backed with YA FullBack rails).

Finally got my electronics in and was able to give the final version a "wet test" last weekend....very happy with results.Image

Lt.FireDog....Like the installation of your fish finder, I located my unit on the right hand/starboard side, but on the black mounting board using a RAM mount and 6" extension arm.....I did this because when I enter my PA, I would get tangled up in the fish finder being too close to the seat...that's just me, being 72 and semi agile :wink:

Lt.FireDog.... How difficult was it to get the backing plates attached in that area? I have only had my PA 14 a week so have not pulled too many of the foam block yet to look around but appeared there was foam in the gunnels as well. I also have the BOA rudder tensioner on the port side to work around. I really like that location and plan to install some Geartracs in the next couple of weeks so now I just need to decide which and where...

Does that cause a problem when you are required to paddle or when entering the PA?

+1 on the nice setup.

Question on mounting to gunnel: Did you have to use the mounting bullets to install the fullback mounting plates, or can you position then with your hand to get the screws started?

Jerry,
didn't seem to be a problem getting in/out.
In regards to paddling...if the need arises (ie-last resort), I can fold both mounts out of the way...but I think I'll call SeaTow before I try to paddle any distance. :mrgreen:

I didn't use the YakAttack Rigging Bullets (have them, didn't think about it :oops: ).
I was able to get within reach of the area (through center hatch) after removing the deck structural foam and removing the (2) screws that hold the foam in the gunnel.
I used a screwdriver (w/appropriate head), taped screw onto driver and started the screw into the backing strip...I was able to get the plate in place and started two of the screws, then backed out the one that was attached to the driver.

Not too hard a project, but good for a couple cuss-words. :D

Thanks. You saved me the expense of the rigging bullets. This time anyway.
