When I was modifying my trailer for the PA-14 I had the same problem. I switched out the smaller bumper and replaced it with a larger one. I had turned the smaller bumper and drilled a new hole for the change in orientation but it allowed the front handle to touch the metal support of the trailer. The larger bumper needed to be cut down and redrilled to fit the metal bracket. So I changed the orientation of the larger front bumper while drilling a new hole for reinstallation. Works great, holds the boat in place with no movement. Hope this helps someone in the future.

Windknot, I used a saw to cut away the extra rubber to fit the bow stop to the bracket. Just use the old bumper to size the cuts on the larger bumper. Any drill bit of the correct diameter will fit the bill to drill out the new hole in the rubber to mount the bow bumper back into its place. I did grease the hole before reinstalling, probably not necessary.
