this may be the case for the 17T, but I doubt they made a new mold for the PA12 and 14. Guess we will have to see when the new PA 12/14 come out.

We added a new casting section on the bottom of the mold to accommodate the skeg same way it's on the PA17T.
This feature (the skeg) will not be backwards compatible with previous generation PA models, sorry.

I have both a 2014 PA12 and a 2015 PA12. I personally find my 2014 with the large rudder and fixed keel tracks straighter/better than my 2015, even when the skeg is down. Looks like the 2015 already has the larger rudder, although I haven't measured them.

One thing I do like about the 2015 arrangement, and owners should already have figured out, is that with the skeg down, this thing takes a football field (ok, I may exaggerate a little) to turn it around. But, yank the skeg up and it turns around in a much tighter radius than my 2014.

I'm still trying to get the X-rail figured out for holding rods, stakeout pole and paddle. You do lose the little bungees incorporated into the handrails of the older models which I found to work for these. Can't wait for the accessories to become available!
