Finally got my new PA 12 2014. Ive wanted one for a long time but duty called so I saved some money while I was deployed had my wife and father in law buy it a couple of days before I got back. I went for the 2014 because I went to my dealer before I deployed and saw it on display and I just fell in love with it. The whole time I was deployed I researched different ways to mod it had a pretty good idea what I was gonna do with it. Ive taken it out three times already on my small pond just to get familiar with it pedaling it, paddling it, casting on it and what not. I even took my 3 year old daughter sat her in between my legs while I worked the mirage drive she loved it luckily the pond was active with a lot of birds and what not. Cant wait to the yak on the river.

Mario,
Welcome to the Hobie family! But, beware! Hobie fishing is addictive. I average over 100 days a year in mine, and have for ten years. I am on my 11th Hobie (still have three). It is simply the best way to fish period, from fly fishing to spin to troll. It will put you on fish no one else has access to.

And don't ignore small bodies of water. Perfect for Hobies, they are normally ignored by boaters and thus hold some really good fish, numbers of fish, and unsophisticated fish in areas shore anglers can't reach. Do some research on the smaller lakes in your area, species, etc.

As to gear, probably the best investment you can make is in a decent sonar. I like Lowrance, but other brands seem to do as well. They are especially valuable if you keep checking out new waters. All freshwater fish are either contour, depth or structure specific.

Lighter tackle will give you more sensitivity, and because of the manueverablity in your Hobie, you can land much larger fish than you can out of a higher, heavier boat and lighter definately than from shore.

Ask your dealer for names of avid Hobie drivers in your area. We are family, and always willing to share ideas on on good fishing and rigging concepts.

And thanks for serving!

Welcome aboard, I've only had mine a few months and love it. Can't wait for spring here in the Northeast.
