I am setting up a new 2015 PA 14. I'm mounting (or at least trying to mount a Lowrance Elite-4. I almost completed the transducer mount when I ran into a problem. The backing nut for the thru-hull plug doesn't fit over the nut on the end of the transducer cable. Looking through the forums I find that I'm not the first to notice this.

I guess I'll have to go the Dremmel route and grind down the nut on the transducer cable. This shouldn't be too bad, but it might make it a little harder to attach the transducer to the fish finder. It's just a bummer to have to grind down a brand new product.

At least in this case, Lowrance ready is really just Lowrance almost ready.

I wouldn't give up just yet and start grinding up your plug. I also installed an Elite 4 on my PA. You should be able to get the backing nut over the plug. It's VERY tight and takes some finessing. The backing nut will flex just enough that you should be able to get it over the plug nut. It definitely wasn't quick and easy, but it should work. Good luck.

It is a tight fit & requires a long arm, but the nut does fit and I successfully mounted Elite 4 - no drilling or grinding. Wondering if i can cut short the nema cable & cover with goop.
