I recently purchased a 2013 Hobie PA14. I was able to get a demo boat for a great price. One thing I would like to change if possible is the rails on the sides of the seat. Is it possible to upgrade the older rails to the newer ones like on the 2015 year models?

Per some of the replies Matt has made to earlier postings of the same query, the answer is yes, once Hobie makes it available as a "kit"......I think the issue was just keeping up with the demand for 2015 models right now.

Agree with the comments from DSC. I know Matt did indicate they were planning on an upgrade. Looking at my 2013 and 2015 PAs side by side, the existing rail screws, steering and mounting board locations look like they line up exactly. The top side of the hull near the steering posts seems to have a slightly different shape when comparing the two models. But based on a visual observation, it looks like the new H-rails would fit on the 2013/2014 models just fine. I'm guessing the middle post where the steering handles are can be taken apart (there are screws) so the steering assembly would remain assembled.

Until that happens, I am going to move my Ram Tube Jr rod holders (on the 2013 PA) to the side rails just behind the front rod shock cords. The H-rail mounting pads (4X6 inch) clamp down and hold secure on the older round rails.

Awesome. Thanks for the help guys. After I made the post I came across RailBlaza and found that they have adapters already that will fit on the 2013 rails. So I think I may end up going that route.

If you're curious, the current H-Rail accessories will mount on the old rails. While the old rails are smooth sided, the adjustment knob and the clamp lever will adjust down to where the mount will not move. I plan on using this arrangement on my 2013 PA14 until the rail upgrade kit comes out.
