New here, love the pa, planning on purchasing one as soon as my existing yak sells. I have been going thru old posts, and have seen where several folks have mounted downriggers to the "H" rails. Was wondering if anyone that had done that, has any updates to how it is working, how is the H rail standing up to the strain. Would love to see what the long term effects, if any are. Has Hobie made any recommendations one way or another as far as using the H rail as a down rigger mount, or for that matter as a rod holder mount while trolling deep?

Thanks for any thoughts or advice.

John

That other thread does have some great info, and I would have no problem borrowing the design ideas. However, I'm still trying to get an answer from Hobie regarding warranty coverage should I mount my rod holder or downrigger to the H rail system. Trolling at 25+ feet put a tremendous amount of strain on the rails, especially if you are using divers, flashers, etc. I have sent an email to customer service, they answered one of my questions, but ignored, or missed the 2nd question in reference to the downrigger on the H rails.
