You can definitely store half your paddle in the PA 14 hull. I slide the paddle end in first along one side of the hull and then use a small bungee to secure the paddle shaft to the bottom rod tube. Make sure the paddle doesn't interfere with any cables or electric wires you may have added. You may even need to move some of the flotation foam slightly to make room. The hatch liner goes back in without a problem.
