I hope to be upgrading to a new PA14 sometime soon. But in the meanwhile, I need to get a couple new trolling rods. I like using a long rod but want to store it in one piece. My 2010 PA14 will just barely accommodate an 8-ft rod in the horizontal storage tubes without the butt end extending up onto the rear deck. Will 8-ft rods still "lay low" in the 2016 hull?

The 2016 hull should be no different from the 2013 - 2016 model years in regards to rod storage. I had a 2012 PA14 that had the stair-step ledges to rest the rods on, so I know where you are coming from. That whole side area was opened up with the 2013 models. With the new H-Rail and the rod holders that come with the PA, you should be able to store 8 foot rods. Bait caster rods are never a problem due to the small eyelets. It's the spinning rods with the larger eyelets that sometime affect how far you can put the rod tip into the tubes. The rod tubes have not changed in size.
