The Xnt 9 SI 180T will fit the Lowrance Ready cavity with the use of our Humminbird adapter kit (part #84505901), but can't comment on how well it will function being mounted inside the cavity. It'll be worth the wait to get a Lowrance Elite 7Ti w/ the TotalScan transducer, or comparable unit, and mount it on our new Lowrance Ready TotalScan transducer plate that will be available in the fall, part (#72020207, retail $34.99). Nice clean reads with that setup for sure.

I removed the skeg and made a mounting bracket.

all of the scratches you see on the transducer came from when I had it mounted on a RAM ball off the back handle.

Lowrance always fail me. Own 3 of them I would be lucky if they last me 1 yr. Not hatting just think I have bad luck with them. The hummingbird always been my pick and I just found out berley pro making a good one for hummingbird

I agree with Blue75966 100%. I have, knock wood, never had a failure with my Humminbirds!

Lowrance has been good with warranty repairs, but the units I owned never worked for more than 1 year before pooping out. One unit failed after 3 months of use.

My first Humminbird portable was still working after 22 years!

I really wish Hobie wouldn't have dedicated that transducer scupper to a single manufacturers electronics. I'm another die hard Humminbird fan and have had a variety of their fish finders over the years and been happy with all of them. I'm currently running an 859ci HD DI on my 2014 PA 14 and will be moving to the Humminbird Helix 9 SI on my 2017 PA 14 when it comes in so that I can take advantage of the AutoChart Live feature. I've always run the transducers over the side on a Liberator Transducer Deployment Arm but am excited to see what Berley Pro has in the works for the SI transducer from Humminbird to mount in the dedicated transducer scupper location. It seems their model may have an edge over the Hobie mount in that theirs has a protective cover over the face of the transducer.

Was talking to someone the other day that was under the impression there was going to be a hull design for the new Lowrance longer transducers. Seeing this makes much more sense. How is this going to be for throwing them in and out of trucks though?

If you'll be using the XNT SI 180 T with your Helix 9, you can mount the transducer using our Humminbird Adapter kit (part # 84505901). As I've mentioned before, feedback on the functionality of this transducer inside the Lowrance Ready cavity is mixed. Some say it works fine, other say they can't get proper readings.

Care should certainly be taken loading and offloading kayaks equipped with the TotalScan/Hobie TotalScan mounting plate. The good thing is that the scoop on the transducer plate protects the transducer from head on impact.

Hi all,

I'm hearing there is alot of mixed reviews regarding accuracy of the unit when installing the helix Si system in the PA14 in the provided Lowrance ready space (flush).

Does anyone actually have first hand experience and can share their input? From what I've read so far, people are just stating the fact some are having trouble getting good readings while others its working fine for them.

I'd love to have the Helix 7 Si but would be spewin if it didnt work 100%! My dealer reassured me he called up the guys at Hobie Australia and they said there are no issues. Then I come on the forums and its a different story!

Thanks in advance for any replies!

I am concerned how well the side imaging will work based on a few screen captures on the BerleyPro site (https://www.berleypro.com/tag/transducer/ ) as well as the transducer being obscured for side imaging for distances longer than 30ft or so because of the Hobie hull. BerleyPro even indicates they will have to lower the transducer mount to remove the shadows at the edge. See below images

I have had great results with Humminbird units in the past as was hoping to mount a Helix 10 or Lowrance Elite 7 Ti for side imaging on my new Hobie PA12, but will wait until I see some good screen shots of side imaging.

I would be willing to bet humminbird si will be impacted slightly more than lowrance if used in the cavity or even mounted lower with a Berleypro setup. HB SI cone angle seems to start more horizontal than lowrance ( users are always saying HB has more range for SI in shallow water). And the pa side gunnels sit lower than the ready cavity.
Hoping I am wrong.

Has anybody actually installed the helix si with the hobie adapter kit? If so, do you have any si screen shots? I've got a helix 7 on the way and am debating buying the berleypro mount, using the adapter kit or just doing like the person above and mounting where the skeg was. Did you re-use the skeg mounting holes?
