Can someone please measure the width of the seat between the arm rests? I'm a big guy and concerned that the seat my not be wide enough? Do the various years differ? I know the seats have changed, but not sure about changes in size.

My 2016 PA14 Vantage Seat measures 20.75" at the narrowest point between the arm rests.

My 2013 PA-14 seat measures 20.5" and the rated capacity is 350 pounds maximum. So very close to Jim_MI measurement.

Inside of the arm rests on the Pro Angler's Vantage seat are currently ~21" apart. Feedback from customers looking for a wider Vantage seat has been taken into consideration.

Are there any good alternatives for aftermarket seats? Armrests are a plus as with bad knees it would be easier to get up out of the chair.

On the PA-14...if the seat is in the upper or elevated position, it is easier to get up....the arm rests are quire nice and robust.
You could also consider adding the Hobie H-Bar http://www.hobiecat.com/accessories/h-bar/

As Dr.SteelheadCatcher said...the H-Bar (part no. 84500114) is a great addition to the PA 14 and is helpful for:
*Pulling yourself up from a seated position
    *Assist entering the kayak
    *Leaning against for stabilization
    H-Bar features adjustable height settings

Looks like a great solution...except when sailing I could see a conflict with sail.

The H-Bar can be quickly and easily folded forward to be out of the way by removing the quick release pins on the rear feet. This still gives you access to your front hatch.

For a quick overview of the H-Bar, check out the link to our H-Bar accessory page: http://www.hobiefishing.com/accessories/h-bar/
