Pretty good regatta, awesome facility and we even had wind. The Hobie 16s were thrown into a handicap fleet that included two H18s and three Isotopes. Even though we had six H16s, the RC made no effort to score us separately. One of the 16s was singlehanded and the RC didn't adjust the handicap for him, and he ended up being the top H16. In all fairness, the singlehander, Mark Williams (typically does race with a crew), sailed a great regatta and may have won anyway. Of the double handed H16s, the order of finish was 1) Garland Ayscue, 2) Me 3) Brad Daily 4) and 5) - not really sure, it would be between Carter Lucas and Paul Tomlinson. Official results haven't been posted yet. But we had a good time sailing. The scoring, however, really makes a strong case for ONE-DESIGN racing.
Nick Bostic crewed with me and we used the race as a tune up for the NACs. We had a productive and fun weekend. Nick made a lot of progress whipping me into shape! We'll get another day of sailing together down in Texas prior to the NACs, so we'll make some more progress.
