This is a very fun, very low key, regatta at an exclusive remote site in Hartsville, SC. It’s a great way to start the year. The smallish lake is the home of a power plant so the water is warmer than you would expect. The winds are almost as shifty as the band that usually plays on Saturday night. It’s a good time for all.

There is plenty of room for camping and some RV parking is available.

Hey Bach, you ought to bring that Hobie 16 out to some of our points regattas this year. Consider this a personal invitation. We'd love to have you race with us.

Thanks but I no longer own a 16, I'm on a C2 now.

Several people in the group acquired Hobie 16's over the winter and there is talk of a fleet for them at Pee-Dee and possibly the Midlands regatta.

That's great that some folks are acquiring H-16s. They are the most affordable boats out there and with the numbers we can generate, they will yield the most competitive fleets. I'll check my calendar to see if I can make one of those regattas.

Pee Dee Classic – March 22,23 – Hartsville, SC
Although the power plant had been shut down for a couple of weeks and left the water much colder than usual, we had nice weather this year. Double trap conditions for most of Saturday followed by one light and variable race on Sunday. It was a terrific event and a great way to start the year!
Up coming events can be seen at www.emsa-sailing.org.
