Yes it's that time of the year again, it's the

2013 ADVENTURE / TANDEM ISLAND PHOTOGRAPHIC COMPETITION

So you think you have seen it all before ? Well think again. In 2010 & 2012 the Photographic Competitions were really well populated and viewed. This competition really gets you to show off your part of the world and give other forum members some insite as to where you sail. We are a pretty proud bunch and this is the platform to show us all how proud you are of your Island and sailing locations. You don't have to be a photographic genius for this comp. Sometimes, out of 100 or so shots, there is 1 that stands out as something special. That shot is the shot that could win you this competition.

Are there any dealers out there willing to donate a prize or 3 to the winners ? Come on, you could be the first. What a golden opportunity. Anyone interested.

2013 RULES ( not to be taken seriously )

1. Rules are made to be broken.
2. A limit of 3 photo entries per member.
3. Some part of your AI or TI must be visible in the photo.
4. Photo must be taken in 2013.
5. Entries close at the end of the year sometime.
6. Entries must have a Title.
7. Judging will be done at the end of the year by all forum members.

Good luck everybody.

And here goes. It's as easy as this. Here is my first entry of the year.
Taken on Lake Macquarie, East Coast Australia last weekend with a Sony RX100 in panorama mode.

Titled - 'Ahhh, the Serenity'

All the predictions were to be 15 knots all day Sunday, and I reckon it was lucky to have made it up to 5 knots for 15 minutes. I finished up peddling for a good 18 k’s. I’m starting to sound like a broken record. But it was a beautiful day. No complaints. I’ve gotta get my rear end into gear and get up to the Myalls Tony. Is that where that shot was taken ? Do I detect a bit of 'soft focus' you sly 'ol devil. Lucky I took out the 'No Photoshop' rule ( in fact I took that rule out because I had to photoshop a bit of my shot  ).

Nah Slaughter, that is Wallis Lake, off from the Great Lakes Sailing club. The "soft focus" is purely due to my using a $49 Kmart camera - I didn't need any software "enhancement"

I am up for Myall lakes any time, just say the word!

Just to enlighten you Northerners that the phrase 'Ahhh the Serenity" comes from the best Australian movie classic ever made. Yes, even better than Mad Max. It was 'The Castle' and if you've never seen it, do yourself a favour. Made on a shoestring budget but it shows how important a great script is. I just hope the 'in' humour isn't too much.

TA! Onya Slaughter! Bloody good tip. :D

I reckon we'll fire up the ute and rent 'The Castle' this arvo. Maybe toss a slab of Fosters in the boot along the way. Then veg in front of the BatTelly and skull till we put a wobbly boot on.

Bonzer way to brush up on our "dinkum Strine". Long as we don't yawn our bikkies.

Hooroo!

Just so ya know, the premise of "The Castle" is this Oz tow-truck driver lives at the end of the runway (Ah, I love the smell of kerosene") and fights "City Hall" who plan to commandeer his little house for airfield expansion.

Other gems from the movie:-
Son asks him about the price someone wants for something on eBay "Tell 'im he's dreamin':
When given some naff item "That's going straight to the pool room"

It all makes sense if you see the movie

Geez Geordie, you've got some angle on it. I just put a protractor on the Aka and the horizon. 36 degrees. Great start to the comp mate !
