After a bit of coaxing from my Hobie forum mates, friends and family, I have entered this short video in the Vimeo 2 minute Challenge. The object of the video is to create a story ( fiction or non fiction ) based on something you like doing. Due to the fact that I already had plenty of AI footage, the Hobie AI had to be part of the story, and so I took the semi-fiction approach and created a story based on my ownership of an island. The Hobie only has a minor role but is a necessary part in getting there.

Some of the competition entries are amazing so I’m not expecting too much out of it other than it's a good way of learning new video techniques.

Hope you like it.

Wonderful film Slaughter. Great footage, nice little story and what is becoming trademark Slaughter humor in your films, right at the end. Is it called "Slaughter Island"? That would keep the neighbors away!

Thanks Stringy. I'm sure you recognised a couple of places. The rock with the Qantas symbol is Tasmanian in fact and is now very close to home...........very.

Damn it Alan. I should have added that clip of my offside gaining work experience by carrying my camera gear and washing my car.

Slaughter,

Very nice...
I mean your video of course .
I hope you can continue incorporating work with pleasure!

I can well appreciate the connection you have to your "special island".
Mine doesn't have waterfalls, rock ledges or funny looking furry creatures crawling about, but I love going there just the same.

Thanks SunE. Truth be known, my island isn't as well equipted as it seems in the video ( it's all done with mirrors ). The competition was of a story either fiction or nonfiction. So I decided to go 1/2 way. Although the majority of the footage was taken on the one island.
The amount of rubbish I have to take back home after every trip isn't exagerated.
P.S. Get that photo into the photo comp ! Or was it taken last year.

Lomcevak - Welcome mate. Now is you turn to inspire us with your adventures. Are you gunna be sailing anywhere near augaug ? ( refer to attachment )

Nah, I don't think so Aussie. If you hit the 'LIKE' heart the judges may count them but I don't know. How cool is vimeo ! You don't see good stuff like this on the other channels.

Hi Slaughter,

Thanks I will post it over there. You're right, (good eye). I took a similar picture last year standing in the same spot, but it was at dusk. This one I took early in the morning - sunrise.
