Post subject:  Free sails?

Hey gang... I've heard a couple of people talk about a website that gives (gave?) away free sails with advertisements on them. I have been unable to locate anything like that so I'm guessing it's gone, but maybe I've been looking in the wrong place(s?) Anyone have further info?

Thanks in advance!

Yea, thats pretty funny......I bought the boat for $200, added a New sail for $700ish and a good tramp and standing riggins, now I have a $1500 old boat.
Anyway, you bring that 18 of yours to the Clear Lake 20/18 event in Sept 2005, and I will buy you lunch. Located 50428 5 days of racing so ask it off work soon.

Sounds like we are working on the same budget.......
I bought my boat for $500 and about $200 in various repairs + $100 for a used tramp + beach wheels and I'm around $1100. And I still need to fix another soft spot on the Port hull.

If you come down for the slip to ship run in Oceansprings MS (May 05) I'll set you up with some nice seafood.

Then we can compare who has the "cheapist" boat.

Okay, my dad bought my boat new in 1972 from the dealer. Sold it to my uncle about 10 years ago for $400. My uncle dies and I feel bad for my cousin so I give her $1000 for it.
+ $250 for trailer repairs
+ $50 for new rudder
+ $60 for new running rigging
+$300 for double trap wires & 2 harnesses
+$150 for new (used) mainsheet system

= $1800-ish old boat. ;-) Gotta love it.

P.S. - scubajeep if you were at OSYC for Slip to Ship this past spring you might've seen me there. :)

We went right through your town (Ocean Springs) last March on our way to Midwinters East. I'll have to check out the dates etc... and see if it works. I would bring my 20 down if I go.
